Italian Poetess a Guest at a Literary EveningOn the 21st August 2009, I attended a literary evening at the Razzett tal-Markiż in Mosta organized by the Għaqda Poeti Maltin where a special Italian guest, poetess Paola Mara De Maestri was present. She was interviewed by Patrick Sammut and then read some of her poems. The association members present also read some of their poems in various languages. i read two poems in Italian SE... and DEGENERAZIONE. At the end, all those present were treated to drinks. The evening was ably presented by Charles Magro and animated by singer Walter Micallef and also recorded on video. It was a very pleasant and fruitful evening in that there was a conglomeration of cultures and an amicable atmosphere enhanced by the antique surroundings of the place.
On Friday 20th March the Maltese Poets Association held a literary evening in conjunction with the National Council of Women to mark woman's day. The venue chosen was the Malta Society of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce building in Valletta.During this evening, poetry was twinned with music as mezzo soprano Miriam Camilleri animated the evening and entertained the guests present, aided by Joanne on the piano. The poetic fare was varied in language, style and approach. I read two poems, one in Maltese called Ghax Omm while the other was a mosaic delivered in the Maltese, English, Italian and French languages titled Fatalite'.The evening was a huge success in terms of attendance and entertainment as we all gave our contribution to the awareness of the role of woman in society.
